What is the Competitive Program?
Seymour Dance offers a Competitive Program where dancers are supported to reach their full potential while learning the value of teamwork, defining their artistry, and training at an elite level. These classes focus on technique, artistry, teamwork and learning choreography at an accelerated rate. We offer competitive teams in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, Acro, Breakdancing, Stage and Samba.
Placement in these classes is by audition only during our Competitive Program Audition Day and our Summer School Programs. There are additional fees that include costume purchase and competition entry in this program. Students participate in 3-4 competitions each spring as well as a rigorous performance schedule throughout the year.
This program is geared towards students looking to push themselves to develop technique, to perform regularly with a team and who want to dance on a daily basis.
Performances Opportunities
Our competitive dancers have the opportunity to perform regularly throughout the year including our two-large scale annual productions of the Nutcracker and our Spring Ballet/June Showcase. Our Competitive Dance Showcase in January gives them a chance to rehearse their competitive numbers prior to competition season. They will also perform at a wide variety of community events including local festivals and holiday occasions.
