Marissa Heaven: Owner and Studio Director

Marissa has always loved to dance and grew up dancing with the Seymour Dance family since she was 3 years old. She trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary and lyrical. Marissa began dancing salsa when she turned 19 and her passion was ignited. Since then Marissa has trained, performed and competed across Canada, the U.S. and Latin America.
Lauren Overholt:Owner and Artistic Director
Faculty: Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Stage, Ballet:
Born and raised in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, Lauren is a Seymour Dance Alumni and has been performing since the age of 2 in various styles of dance. She has performed all over Canada, Spain, and a 22 city touring show in China, with the Dragonfly Orchestra. Lauren has recently enhanced her dance career with a passion for TV & Film as well, starring in shows such as Supernatural and Bates Motel. Her dedication and love for the arts, keeps her constantly creating and learning. She is also the Founder and Artistic Director of Enfuse Entertainment, which provides a variety of events tailor-made performances, known for mixing and mashing up different dance styles.
Katie Gillett: Owner and Operations Director
Faculty: Lyrical, Jazz:
Katie began her dancing career at the age of 5 at Seymour Dance. She completed the RAD Ballet exams Pre Primary through Intermediate. She trained and competed in Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Singing as well as going through a pre-professional dancer program.
Katie performed, competed, danced, sang and played the trumpet at numerous festivals across the lower mainland and throughout the province including Canadian Idol in 2002. She also danced professionally with the BC Lions Felions Dance Team from 2006-2009 and performed at numerours Grey Cup's and events across Canada!
Jessica Heaven: Communications Director & NVSD Dance Academy Coordinator
Faculty: Broadway Bound, Stars,
Jessica is a jack-of-all-trades vocalist, who has performed in a variety of genres, including oratorio, jazz, folk, rock, musical theatre, and much more. Studying under Kelly Nobles, Jennifer Scott, and Kate Hammett-Vaughan, she was honored to perform a world premiere work, "Museum Pieces" by Juno award-winning composer Jordan Nobles for Canada Music Week 2012 and has had the pleasure to play with artists Chad Makela, Dave Sikula, Bernie Arai, Mike Rud, John Stowell, Vince Mai, and Len Aruliah, to name a few.
Samantha Ball: RAD Coordinator, RAD Registered Teacher: Ballet
Sam studied full time at the Theatre School of Dance and Drama in Edinburgh where she obtained her RAD Teaching Certificate and ISTD Associate Teachers. After graduation her professional dancing career took her all over the world when she worked for Princess Cruises. Her teaching career began while she was at Edinburgh University studying for her B.Ed (Hons) degree in Elementary Education. Working for a number of teachers throughout Scotland she also set up her own dance school in East Lothian, Scotland. Four years ago she relocated with her husband and three children to Canada. She loves living in this part of the world and cannot wait to start teaching at Seymour Dance.
Nicola Earl: R.B.S. (T.T.C.), A.R.A.D, Ballet
Nicola is fully accredited in the Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti ballet syllabus, and is also fully certified in the Progressing Ballet Technique method. As a graduate of the teaching program at the Royal Ballet School in London, England, She covered all aspects of classical dance training including: classical ballet technique, pointe work, repertoire, and Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti syllabi, character, Spanish dance, music, dance history, and Benish Notation. Nicola graduated top of her class and was awarded the 1998 Dame Ninette de Valois Award for excellence in teaching.
Nicola has worked at many schools throughout the Lower Mainland. She has been on the staff at Harbour Dance for the last sixteen years and has been a regular guest teacher for Ballet BC. Nicola has also enjoyed adjudicating for the Prince Albert Festival of Dance
Belinda Sobie: Jazz Technique
Belinda is known throughout Vancouver for her wonderful and innovative choreography. She has choreographed for television, cabaret acts and touring shows from Seattle to Spain. Belinda is also much sought after as an instructor and choreographer. Her positive attitude makes her classes an ideal learning environment.
Magnus Futrell-Fruhling: Breaking
I eat, sleep, live, Bboying/Breakdancing. Dance is my true passion, and is my life. I’ve been doing street dance for about 7 years with the main focus being on Bboying. I’ve been taught by N.O.N (Now Or Never) Bboy crew, the #1 Bboy/Breakdance crew in Canada. I continue to train along side and do professional performances with N.O.N. I am also in a well known crew called Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz (D.R.S). I have been flown up to Whitehorse Yukon as special V.I.P guests. I also do professional performances as well as compete/perform internationally.
Ken Yung: Hip Hop
Ken “Kennon” Yung is the director of Kill The Lights professional dance crew based in Vancouver, Canada. Having trained in Hip Hop extensively in LA, Vancouver and Hong Kong, he’s an experienced dancer and choreographer. For the last two years, he has toured around Western Canada and the US with his crew to perform and teach in workshops. Ken’s passion for dance is like no other and he loves to share it through his teaching. Please check out his work at :
Sophie Grover: NVSD Academy Program Coordinator Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical
Sophie Grover is a Seymour Dance Alumni, from North Vancouver, BC. She grew up dancing at Seymour Dance and has taken part in multiple of their productions including Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and Clara in the Nutcracker Ballet. She has been working with kids since a young age, and is currently a team Leader for North Vancouver Recreation and Culture. She is trained in many styles of dance including, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe and more. Sophie loves being there for the students as her teachers were for her growing up and is excited to push them to their fullest potential.
Randa Barett: Stretch, Acro, Hip Hop, Adult Cardio
The true definition of natural born talent, Randa began her journey at a much older age than most. As a child she always showed her creative side by choreographing dances at home with her sister and friends. When she was 13 she asked her mom if she could take a hip hop class, and after two short years she knew dance was going to be her life. Randa excelled in her home town of Calgary, Alberta, entering many competitions and winning several awards. Reaching a plateau in Calgary, Randa knew if she wanted to live her passion as a professional dancer she would have to leave. In 2008 at the age of 19 she moved to Vancouver, BC to pursue her dream.
Randa was accepted into the Intensive training program at Harbour dance centre. After her year at Harbour Randa channeled her focus into hip-hop. She was accepted into SOULdiers Dance Company where she spent two years expanding her knowledge of hip-hop. Now on her own Randa actively finds new ways to continue her growth as a dancer. Randa got the opportunity to dance with Royal Caribbean which introduced her to Aerial. Randa has found a passion for Aerial and is now one of the skills she is actively working on, adding to her variety of abilities. Randa set a high goal for herself in trying to obtain her O-1 Visa to the United States where she could continue pushing toward her goals and dreams. In 2016 she got approved and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
Randa has had the privilege to work on stage and television. Some of her credits include Harvest Moon, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”, Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush “Music Sounds Better with You”, Step Up 4 Revolution promo launch, Miscellaneous Productions “Raincity Rap. In the last six years while residing in Vancouver, Randa has had many performing opportunities including “Dance’s for a Small Stage”, “The Main Event”, PNE Performances and “Urban Alchemy”. Randa had the opportunity to perform in Las Vegas, NV at the Hardrock Café for a show called “The Tuesday Blend”. Randa recently completed 2 contract with Royal Caribbean, performing in the production show Spectra’s Cabaret on what was the newest & second largest ship in the world.
As well as her love for dance, Randa has found a true passion for teaching and choreographing. While residing in Vancouver she taught regularly all over the Lower Mainland, including dance studios, community centers, elementary schools and high schools. Randa also had the opportunity to work and train competitive dancers who competed all around the city.
Nicole Vanderwall: Tap, Musical Theatre
Nicole has been dancing since the age of three. She originally focused on ballet and later added jazz, lyrical, stage (musical theatre), tap, hip hop and modern. In 2007 Nicole achieved the mark of distinction on her intermediate RAD exam. She has attended both Dupree Dance Expo, in Seattle and Triple Threat Dance Convention, in Vancouver, on scholarship. Nicole has performed in the BC Country Music Awards in 2005, in the Vancouver Olympic Closing Ceremonies in 2010, and in Disneyland in both 2005 and 2011.
Nicole trained as part of the Scholarship Dance Vancouver 2012-13 company where she challenged herself to take her technique and artistry to the next level. Nicole continues to learn through experiences at the DanceLife Teacher Convention 2013, DanceLife Retreat: The Future edition (focusing on the 8 and under crowd) in November 2013, and getting certified by Acrobatic Arts. Nicole loves performing and tries to inspire that same passion in her students. She believes that dance should be a fun, positive environment to learn not only dance but important life skills about hard-work, personality, sportsmanship and self-confidence.
Paige Vassos: RAD Registered Teacher: Ballet, Lyrical, Tap
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Paige started training competitively at Vanleena Dance Academy at the age of 7. Following graduation, she has trained with the Source Dance Company as well as attending the fall West Coast Choreo Lab workshop as well as the full year program. Highlights of Paige’s recent dance opportunities include the honorary Solo Seal Award Examination (Royal Academy of Dance), and Diner En Blanc Vancouver (2 seasons). She can be seen in Ivivva promotional images, Doctors of BC Be Active videos, as well as various tv and film productions. She is currently entering her third year in psychology and a Master's in Management at UBC, teaching dance in the lower mainland, and completing the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies for the 2018-2019 year. Paige takes pride in her versatility and diversity, and hopes to inspire and share her love for dance through performance, choreography, and instruction.
Jenna Williamson: Jazz, Lyrical
Jenna grew up dancing in North Vancouver. She is a Seymour Dance Alumni, where she trained in numerous styles of dance including ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, tap and more. She had the privilege of playing various roles in their yearly productions such as Cinderella in Cinderella and her favourite, the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. Jenna is a recent graduated from the University of Western Ontario (UWO) where she obtained a Health Sciences Degree. She continued her love for dance at University as a member of the UWO Dance Team and choreographer for the company. Jenna was also part of the universities dance minor program where she studied and choreographed various styles of dance. She loves what dance and her teachers have taught her over the years and is excited to impart her love and passion of dance to the students of Seymour Dance.
Tyler Carver: RAD Ballet
Tyler Carver began training at the age of 12 at the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver, BC, where he completed his RAD Advanced 2 exam with distinction. He completed a year of training at San Francisco Ballet School and then joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet as an Apprentice in 2014, was then promoted into the Corps de Ballet for the 2015-16 season.
Since joining the Company, Carver has had the opportunity to perform in such works as Giselle, Nutcracker(as the Nutcracker Prince), Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation, Swan Lake(as Spanish and Pas de Trois), Sleeping Beauty(as Blue Bird),Dracula(as Jonathan Harker) and many others. He also made a special appearance in the leading role of Solor in the RWB School Professional Division’s performance of La Bayadère excerpts.
Venice Dang: Acrobatic Arts Certified Teacher: Acro, Contemporary
Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Venice has trained at Seymour Dance since the age of 7. She has participated in many of their productions, highlights of which include Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy in Seymour's annual production of "The Nutcracker". She has been training in acrobatic dance for 6 years and is a certified Acrobatic Arts instructor. She will be completing her training at Seymour Dance this year, attending a variety of conventions and workshops to further her dance education.
Jared Khalifa: Acro Tricks & Acro Tech
Jared Khalifa is a multidisciplinary performing artist, athlete, and instructor. As a tumbling and trampoline gymnast, Jared represented Canada at three World age group championships, winning two World Cup Silvers, three Canadian titles, and twelve National medals. In the Musical theatre industry, he has worked with companies such as the Arts Club, Royal City Theatre, and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
After retiring from gymnastics Jared's goal was to fuse his passions for athletics and arts, which is when he began touring North America with Cirque Du Soleil's show OVO. After moving back to Vancouver, Jared dove into the film and TV Industry as a dancer, working on shows such as Netflix's Sabrina, A Cinderella Christmas, Disney's Descendants, motion capture and more!
Arianna Elsworth: Stage, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet
Born and raised in North Vancouver BC, Arianna found her passion in dance at the age of 4. She is a recent Seymour Dance Alumni, trained in the ballet program (RAD Advanced 2) as well as competitive dance (ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, acro, samba, musical theatre, tap). She has earned numerous awards & scholarships, including awards for her recent work in self-choreography. Highlights of Arianna’s dance career include lead roles of Alice, in “Alice in Wonderland”, as well as Arabian, Sugar Plum, Snow Queen, and Clara leads in Seymour Dance’s annual production of The Nutcracker. She is pursuing a professional career in dance and is pleased to be a part of the upcoming Lamondance Seasons 12 and 13. Arianna also enjoys teaching dance and is looking forward to sharing her joy of dance with students at Seymour Dance this coming year.

Emily Tellier: Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz
Emily was born in Ottawa, and raised in North Vancouver. At the age of 10, she quickly discovered her passion for dance under the direction of Sonia Ellis at Seymour Dance. Dance has always been a huge part of Emily’s life and upon graduating from high school she decided to pursue a professional career specifically in contemporary dance. She has trained with Harbour Dance Centre’s Intensive Training Program as well as the prestigious Source Dance Company under the direction of Joanne Pesusich.
Emily has also had the privilege of living in New York City to train with some of North America’s best at Broadway Dance Center including: Brice Mousset, Sheila Barker, Calen Kurka, and Chris Hale. Emily has performed with the Source Dance Company’s “The Life of…” and “Reporting Live”, the Vancouver International Dance Festival, the Underground Circus for Pepsi, Loreal and Goldwell as a model and dancer in the show “Show Off”, and the Closing Ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, to name a few. She was also a dancer in music videos for Ash Koley “Brighter at Night” and Ka.Lil “Sunday Morning”. Most recently, Emily was invited to perform at the Brooklyn Dance Festival in New York City with Kristin Sudeikis Dance Company and will be heading back to New York City, summer 2014, to perform in the Ladies of Hip Hop Festival with Ms Vee Productions. In addition to performing, Emily has had the privilege of assisting some of North America’s best choreographers including Stacey Tookey (NYC), Val “Ms Vee” Ho (NYC), Kristin Sudeikis (NYC), and Heather Laura Gray. She looks forward to the future and is excited to continue sharing her passion for dance with her students.
Joel Sturrock: Stage, Jazz
Joel Sturrock is an alumnus of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and the Canadian College of Performing Arts. After completing a choreography mentorship under Artistic Director Jacques Lemay, Joel has worked across North America and Europe as a performer, choreographer, dance consultant and movement coach for the stage and screen. As a dancer and actor he has worked on such projects as Rosie Odonnel’s Our Family Cruise, Tony Award Winner Johnny Tartaglia’s ‘Ad-Liberty’, Beauty & The Beast (Arts Club), CW’s Hellcats and MOVE Dance Company. Selected choreographic credits include ‘The Dancing Cop’ (Official Selection TIFF 2012), MTV’s Dancing with the Hosts, Hey Ocean!’s ‘Big Blue Wave’, and the Jessie Award winning ‘Bombitty of Errors’.
He is co-creator and choreographer of the much anticipated web series ‘The True Heroines’, and it’s bi-monthly, companion live cabaret show “The True Heroines: A Comic Strip Cabaret’. Joel has also been a guest instructor and choreographer for numerous institutions and conventions across Canada including Move Dance Convention and C.D.T.A.

Katie Chartrand is an emerging choreographer who originates from Windsor, Ontario. Her training began in Windsor where she studied ballet; jazz and hip hop and developed a true fondness for contemporary and hip hop. She has trained under many artists including Kathy King, Larry Keigwin, Mandy Moore, Mia Michaels, Travis Wall and many others. Katie has travelled to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Michigan, Toronto and most recently Vancouver to take place in intensive training programs. She has choreographed for competition teams, Michigan Dance Project, Brighton Dance Festival, Get Up and Move!, Company One and Vancity Project. She is known for her innovative contemporary choreography but is also known to bring her own flavor to the Jazz Funk and Hip hop styles.
Melissa Haibeck: Costume Mistress, Parent Volunteer Coordinator
Melissa oversees the costume coordination, volunteer, and backstage set-up for the Centennial Theatre shows. Volunteers are always appreciated to help with various
costume duties as well as backstage helpers.
Ariyanna Pascuzzi: Community Coordinator, Adult Fitness
Ariyanna helps with the community outreach with Seymour Dance. Volunteers are always appreciated to help with various costume duties as well as backstage helpers.
