What is the Seymour Dance Competitive Program?
Our competitive program offers dancers intensive, performance-based dance training. The students are supported to reach their full potential while learning the value of teamwork, defining their artistry at an accelerated rate, and training at an elite level. Please review our SDC Handbook on our expectations for dancers and families attached below.
Our competitive dancers have the opportunity to perform regularly throughout the year including our two large-scale annual productions of the Nutcracker and our Spring Ballet/June Showcase. Our Competitive Group/Solo/Duo Showcase in January also gives our students a chance to perform in a professional setting prior to the competition season. Our competitive teams are also greatly relied on to perform at a wide variety of local events including Collaboration, Community Days, Shipyards, local festivals and celebrations, etc.
Placement in our Competitive Program is via audition only (except for pre-competitive level and Breaking Crew which is by invitation). Students are given initial placements and additionally must participate in one of our intensive summer camps in July or August. **Summer registration is live and you can sign up any time**
Auditions for the 2022/2023 Season will take place on Saturday, May 14th, 2022. This audition will encompass both our competitive group program, as well as those wanting to audition for solo/duo/trios and YAGP.

Please note it is inappropriate for parents to try to influence these decisions based on their own personal opinions, social groups, etc. They will not be taken into consideration.
